Breaking the Ice

Breaking the Ice.
Breaking the Ice-the ALS ice dump challenge-One of the attorneys who used to be with the firm I work for lost his wife to ALS-she officially was declared dead at age 42 but I think she died about 3 years prior to that and her body was being kept alive to be ravaged by the horrible disease ALS. She left behind two teens who were robbed of their mom watching them graduate high school; going to college and sharing in precious moments such as love, heartbreaks, weddings and grandbabies. The disease robbed a whole family but mostly it ravaged her brain before her body (which in some ways – as some may say, was a blessing-she wasn’t aware of what was happening or at least everyone would like to believe she wasn’t aware of what was happening).
So how does dumping a bucket of ice over your body help to find a cure? How about dumping a bucket of change into an even bigger bucket that is sent to an even bigger bucket to fund research so this ugly disease can be warded off before it robs more families of life with their loved ones. If you challenge me to dump a bucket of change into a bigger bucket for research-I will do that-but dumping a bucket of ice over my head in 105 degree temps in South TX is nothing more than a way for me to cool off.
